ALABAMA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY2+ weeks agoAgency**ALEA, FBI Mobile and the AG’s Office Asking for Public's Assistance in Explosive Device Detonated in Montgomery** On Saturday, Feb. 24, at approximately 3:42 a.m., an explosive device was detonated near the intersection of Washington Avenue and South Bainbridge Street, outside of the Alabama Attorney General's Office in downtown Montgomery. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Mobile and the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest that may have information related to this crime. If you recognize or have any information concerning this individual, please call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit information online at: https://tips.fbi.gov/digitalmedia/4f63625fed6af5b. Special Agents with ALEA's State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) received notification of a suspicious package at approximately 8:19 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 26, and immediately responded to the scene and deemed the area safe. The suspicious package was confirmed as the device which was detonated on Saturday. Troopers assigned to ALEA’s Protective Services Division and Special Agents assigned to ALEA’s Hazardous Device Unit (HDU), along with Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Officers from the Montgomery Police Department, also responded to the scene to assist. HUNTSVILLE UTILITIES2+ weeks agoAgencyMarch 7 is National Slam The Scam Day, which was started by the Social Security Administration as a way to bring awareness to Social Security related scams. The tactics these scammers use are nearly identical to those they use when targeting utility customers. Please take note of these red flags to protect yourself from scammers, and share with your family and friends. Remember, scammers like to target the elderly, people who are not very tech savvy, small business owners, and those who may not speak English as their primary language. Scammers target everyone. Recognize scammers. They may: Pretend to be from an agency or organization you know. Say there's a problem or promise a prize. Pressure you to act immediately. Tell you to pay in a specific way. Do not give scammers money or personal information - ignore them! How to avoid a scam: Remain calm. Talk to someone you trust. Hang up or ignore the message. Do not click on links or attachments. Protect your money. Criminals will insist that you pay in a hard-to-trace manner, such as with a gift card, prepaid debit card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, money transfer, or by mailing cash. Protect your personal information. Be skeptical of a contact you didn't initiate. Spread the word. Share your knowledge of Social Security-related scams. Post on social media using the hashtag #SlamTheScam to share your experience and warn others. Visit ssa.gov/scam for more information.15Like

HUNTSVILLE UTILITIES4 days agoAgency❗️SCAM ALERT! ❗️ We are receiving reports of scam calls targeting Huntsville Utilities customers. The caller states service is about to be cut off unless the customer calls 888-912-0560 to make a payment. THIS IS NOT A HUNTSVILLE UTILITIES NUMBER! IT IS A SCAM! DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER TO MAKE A PAYMENT! Remember that we DO NOT call and threaten imminent disconnect, nor do we accept gift cards or prepaid debit cards as payment. If you receive such a call, hang up. DO NOT give them any personal financial information! If you believe you have been the victim of a scam, contact your financial institution and local law enforcement immediately. Please share this information with friends and family, especially the elderly and those who are not very tech savvy.9Like
